Veteran's Award for Service to Archery in Western Australia for his contribution to Archery in Western Australia for over 35 years.
The dictionary describes a gentleman as a cavalier, an aristocrat, and a brick. This definition could also be used to describe Bob Willis.
Bob took up Archery with the Swan Bowmen in the mid-1960's and was something of a mean Field shooter. When Swan Bowmen closed, he was a founding member of the Benara Bowmen and is now a member of the Sorrento Archery Club.
We all know that when there is a busy bee, or nationals or another major event, Bob will be there. He is always working in the background getting things done quietly and efficiently and to be honest he is someone that we fail to thank often enough. He doesn't expect thanks but deserves it.
With too much time in retirement, a few months ago, Bob and Marion Willis took on the job of managers of the Archery Park and in doing so have lifted the standard of service and for the last three months we have realised operating profits - this is nine months ahead of what was predicted when the park was first conceived. They now have many group bookings into the new year too.
Archery is much richer from having members like, the gentleman, Bob Willis.
