Award for Service to Archery in Western Australia.
Julie
was first introduced to the sport of Archery in the late 1960s.
Returning from overseas she joined Swan Bowmen in 1975 and after Swan
closed joined Yokine Archers in 1976.
In 1978
both Julie and husband John founded the Benara Bowmen Archery Club where
she continues to work tirelessly for the benefit of her Club.
Julies achievements include:
Level I accredited Coach in 1980
Level II Sports Specific in 1983
State Coaching coordinator during the 1980s which included the organisation of coaching camps.
Acquired Level II National Accreditation in 1987 through a course conducted by the WA Shooting Association for the Department of Sport & Recreation.
State Coaching coordinator in 1992 where she attended National Coaching meetings, including a busy weekend at the AIS Canberra when the Coaching Manuals were re-written.
Also during this time worked on the upgrading and re-accreditation of
all the registered WA Coaches, Levels I & II.
Julie has been involved to varying degrees in all Junior and Senior
Nationals hosted by ASWA since 1979. She was scoring co-ordinator for
the International AOTAC Tournament held in WA in 1988 and was on the
organising committee for the World Crossbow Championships held in WA
in October 2005.
She has traveled with her family to Junior and Senior Nationals and was
a State Team member in 1983.
Julie continues to be involved in Club Coaching and State activities and
is at present the ASWA Selection Committee Chairperson.
